How the commanders Proposal Compares to other NFL stadium Deals

The Washington Commanders will cover over 75% of the total costs of the stadium project. This private contribution is one of the largest team contributions to a professional sports stadium deal in history. If approved, District taxpayers will contribute less than 25% of the costs of the project. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Mayor Bowser’s proposal is tough, fair, and beneficial for District residents and taxpayers. Now, it’s time for the D.C. Council to finish the job and approve the agreement!

The Proposed Public Subsidy is nearly 30% less than Nationals Stadium

When adjusted for inflation, the cost of Washington Nationals Stadium, which was entirely paid for by the District, exceeds $1.1 billion. That means that, on an inflation adjusted basis, the proposed public subsidy for the Commanders Stadium is 40% less than what District taxpayers paid for the baseball stadium.
